c0mpiled-11: YC Startup School Hackathon!

Overview

  • Over 300 registrations, 70+ participants, 24 submissions, and 7 prizes awarded.
  • Participants flew from all around the world for YC SUS!
  • Hosted at Transpose Platform in San Francisco on Friday, July 24, during YC Startup School weekend.
  • Builders used YC's Summer 2026 Requests for Startups as the starting point and had a single evening to form teams, build, and submit a working prototype.
  • VOYGR and Hexclave were the most-used sponsor tools, appearing in 9 and 8 unique submissions respectively.

Reflections

Good

  • 24 unique products were completed in a single evening, spanning company knowledge, developer tooling, agriculture, commerce, healthcare, hardware, and physical operations.
  • Sponsor-tool adoption was strong: VOYGR appeared in 9 projects and Hexclave in 8, with teams also building with CrustData, Channel3, Phonely, Momentic, Miso Labs, and Superset.
  • Several of the strongest projects combined a specific user problem with a concrete end-to-end workflow rather than stopping at a conversational demo.
  • Despite the large turnout, we were still able to accommodate everyone comfortably!

Bad

  • There was a lot of confusion regarding the optional demos: participants were afraid that their demo would affect judging, while the purpose is for participants to practice their pitching skills.
  • There was some confusion about the submission window, but we applied what we learned to make our next event run much more smoothly.

Prizes & Recognition

1st Place: Bob the Builder — PCB-Sentinel is an autonomous hardware-reproduction verification platform. It catches costly PCB layout errors by cross-referencing Gerber files against component datasheets with multimodal AI, then uses voice agents to call suppliers and verify real-time stock availability.

2nd Place: Aria — Aria is a goal-driven voice agent designed to remove the operational hassle of following through on personal objectives.

3rd Place: Compile — Compile creates the prompt automatically and pulls in the right context, removing the need to assemble it manually.

Most Beautiful: SpraySense — SpraySense turns a photo of a handwritten field-scouting sheet into a data-driven pesticide recommendation. It combines pest counts, live weather forecasts, and crop prices to identify the exact day spraying becomes economically justified.

  • Description: Scout is an autonomous copilot for agricultural drones that observes crop health in real time and adaptively replans its route to detect and verify disease. In a vineyard mildew scenario, it produced a localized treatment zone so farmers could avoid blanket-spraying the entire field.
